PREGNANCY:37 Weeks-FULL TERM

37 Weeks 6 Days

37 Weeks 6 Days – so unbelievably ready to meet my wombmate.

How far along? 37 weeks and 6 Days in this picture.

Total weight gain: +27lbs.

Maternity clothes? My capris are but not my shirt.

Stretch marks? NONE!

Sleep: Pretty lousy except for the last two nights. One night I woke up and was certain that the baby had flipped and was now breech. I had like a four hour panic attack over this. The next night I woke up with serious cramping in my lower back and abdomen unlike anything I have felt since I’ve been pregnant. It was not unbearable just incredibly uncomfortable, so no sleep that night. I also thought it might be back labor, but at this point my water is going to have to break, and I’m going to have to be in excruciating pain for me to even think that something is going on.

Best moment this week: Learning that the baby is NOT breech, rather she is head down and very engaged. I am a complete 2cm dilated and about 70% effaced.

Miss Anything?: Not really

Movement: Sporadic. I finally caught her moving on video though. Throughout the whole pregnancy as soon as I would pull out the camera, she would stop.

Food cravings: So one night I had this overwhelming desire to have a cream soda with strawberry ice cream.  This is what it looked like. It was surprisingly tasty.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Not really.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: My water has not broken, and I have not had any type of unbearable contractions so no.

Belly Button in or out? In for the most part. The bottom part of it sometime pokes out like a pouting lip.

Rings on or off? On when I’m not too hot.

Happy or Moody:RESTLESS. CRANKY. DONE. Sometimes pretty happy though.

Reading: I’m done reading birth related things. I have read every book my tiny library has to offer on the subject. I know more than I should, and none of it can tell me when this little darling will be born.

This little sweetie painted my toesies for me this week. I can still reach my toes, but I figured that I should let him do it while there was still time. He did a fabulous job. I should have let him do it months ago.image

Today we drove to this little tourist trap town about 25 miles outside of the city and had lunch and ice cream. We’re enjoying spending as much time together while it’s still just us.

Some days I feel like I will be pregnant forever. I’m trying to enjoy having her so close to me since this is the last time in our whole lives that she will be this close to me.

PREGNANCY:36 Weeks-9MONTHS

36 weeks 5 days

36 weeks 5 days

How far along? 36 weeks and 5 Days in this picture.

Total weight gain: +26lbs.

Maternity clothes? Not in this pic. I pretty much wear workout clothes all the time, but this day I had a lunch date with my husband so I wanted to dress up a bit.

Stretch marks? NONE! I’ve read about some women getting them at 38 weeks so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Sleep: What sleep? Well I slept really well Friday night, and that was it. All other nights I do not sleep until about 4:00 am. My mom has called me a couple of mornings this week around 10:30-11:00am and I’ve still been asleep. I hate sleeping in, but I’m trying to get it where I can.

Best moment this week: Hearing baby girl’s heartbeat, learning that she is still head down, and that I’m 50% effaced and nearly 2cm dilated! All these contractions have done a little work. I’ve also been taking about 1000mg of Evening Primrose Oil and drinking red raspberry leaf tea like a fiend.

Miss Anything?: Not really

Movement: Her movements are slowing down a bit it seems. I still feel her every hour, but she’s not quite as active.

Food cravings: Nothing really this week.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Not really.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Well I was kind of excited on Saturday because we had a supermoon, which is supposed to be the grandaddy of full moons. My husband and I had plans to hit up the farmer’s market and run some other errands, but before we left the house I started having some major pelvic pressure and contractions. I’m used to the contractions at this point, but not paired with this pressure that I’ve been having this week.

It is a pressure that I feel in my groin muscles as well as my lower back and at times it can be quite uncomfortable. Bouncing on the birth ball seems to help. I haven’t felt this before this week, so on Saturday when I started contracting and having this pressure I made the mistake of getting my hopes up.

I had contractions that were about 7 minutes apart and fairly intense ALL DAY long. They stopped at about midnight maybe? I woke up periodically throughout the night with contractions, but they were not that intense and were not consistent. So today I’ve only had a few contractions and a little pressure. Nothing to get excited about. I do not think that I will know when I’m in the early stages of labor….

Belly Button in or out? In for the most part. The bottom part of it sometime pokes out like a pouting lip.

Rings on or off? On when I’m not too hot. I’m thinking about taking them off just in case I swell like a balloon in these final days. It’s getting hotter and hotter outside, and I swell tremendously when I’m hot.

Happy or Moody: Happy. Irritable. Cranky. Energized. Restless.

Reading: Christ Centered Childbirth which is so encouraging, and I decided to pick up Childbirth Without Fear by Grantly Dick-Read. He was referenced pretty heavily in the Bradley books, so I thought I’d give it whirl. I find it very interesting the psychology behind how fear makes pain so much worse. I can recognize it in my life, and I am preparing myself to not allow fear into the birthing room.

I must exude an air of misery or discomfort because everywhere I go I seem to get asked “how long do you have?” To which I want to respond “If I could tell you I would.” I pretty much refuse to tell anyone my due date since less than 5% of babies are born on their due date, yet people still ask. So I say she can come at anytime over these next couple of weeks.

My doctor says that there’s a chance that she can come early. Maybe?! All of the babies in my family were born more than a week before their due date, and I’m probably putting too much pressure on myself, but if I go to 40 weeks I will become convinced that I am adopted. I’m trying not to pressure myself or let anyone else pressure me.

I’m kind of obsessed with my belly, probably because I think it’s about as big as it’s going to get, and it no longer feels like it’s going to rip open. It’s kind of my favorite thing right now, so here are some pics of it.

Front shot of the belly. The linea negra seems to keep growing. I think my naval looks like an eye.

PREGNANCY: 35 Weeks

35 Weeks 6 Days

                                                          35 Weeks 6 Days

How far along? 35 weeks and 6 Days in this picture.

Total weight gain: +25lbs.

Maternity clothes? Not in this pic. I bought this dress in Times Square when I was about 4 months pregnant in hopes that it would stretch with me, and it has done just that!

Stretch marks? NONE!

Sleep: Some nights I can’t sleep at all. Other nights, like last night, I become almost comatose.

Best moment this week: Celebrating Father’s Day with my sweet hubby!

Miss Anything?: Not really

Movement: Her movements are slowing down a bit it seems. I still feel her every hour, but she’s not quite as active.

Food cravings: Nothing really this week. I do have my appetite, however, because I’m pretty sure this little bundle has dropped!! She still occasionally kicks me in the ribs when I’m sitting down, but most of her movement is down low, lots of pressure, and much more room for my poor stomach which means that I’m hungry again for the first time in weeks!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Not really.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: I only had consistent contractions one day this week which was Monday. They were coming every 3 minutes lasting about 40 seconds so I quickly laid down and popped a benadryl with slowed them considerably. But if that happens this coming week, I don’t have to stop them!!!!!!

Belly Button in or out? In for the most part. The bottom part of it sometime pokes out like a pouting lip.

Rings on or off? On when I’m not too hot. Heat makes me swell.

Happy or Moody: Happy. Irritable. Cranky. Energized. Restless.

I can recognize it in my life, and I am preparing myself to not allow fear into the birthing room.

I’ve been very nesty and restless this week. I’m sort of sad that this pregnancy is almost over, but at times I’m so ready to go into labor that I can hardly stand it. I try to remind myself that never again in our lives, mine and my baby’s, will we be as close as we are now. I love her so much and absolutely cannot wait to meet her.

PREGNANCY: 34 Weeks

34 Weeks 6 Days

                                                           34 Weeks 6 Days

How far along? 34 weeks and 6 Days in this picture.

Total weight gain: +24lbs.

Maternity clothes? Not in this pic.

Stretch marks? NONE!

Sleep: It’s not too bad, I just wake up most nights in a panic thinking I’m going into labor.

Best moment this week: Seeing my sweet family at our baby shower.

Miss Anything?: Not really

Movement: Mostly in the early morning and late at night.

Food cravings: Nothing really this week. I do not have much of an appetite.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Not really.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs:  I had another bout with  strong consistent contractions, but nothing a little benadryl didn’t take care of. My doctor told me that I’m pretty much out of the margin of worry because they do very little to keep mamas from having their babies at 35 weeks. My husband was born at 35 weeks and was fine. Also, I was born at 37 weeks and almost weighed 8 pounds so I’m not worried at all about her being on the small side. Most of the pregnancy she’s measured ahead, but she’s right on target for now.

Belly Button in or out? In, but it’s s t r e t c h i n g. I fear it will never be the same.

Rings on or off? On when I’m not too hot. Heat makes me swell.

Happy or Moody: Happy!

Reading: Christ Centered Childbirth this book is amazing, I hate that I didn’t read it sooner.

We had our last baby shower this weekend, and I was so touched by everyone who came out to celebrate our sweet little girl. It was wonderful seeing friends and family that I had not seen in a while and probably will not get to see for a little while after the baby is born. We are so grateful for all of the love and support that was doled our way. ❤

PREGNANCY:33 Weeks

33 Weeks 6 Days

                                                              33 Weeks 6 Days

How far along? 33 weeks and 6 Days in this picture.

Total weight gain: +22.5lbs. I’m expecting to explode next week since I didn’t gain anything this week.

Maternity clothes? Not in this pic.

Stretch marks? NONE!

Sleep: A little better this week!

Best moment this week: Finishing the baby’s room!! My sweet mother helped me finish organizing and putting things away.

Miss Anything?: Not really

Movement: Still lots of movement. She’s so strong!

Food cravings: Buttered toast. I think I need some vitamin A or something (Most butter contains beta carotene, btw!) because I like butter OK, but normally I’m fine just having dry toast. This week I’ve probably eaten half a loaf of bread toasted and buttered. Paula Dean would be so proud!

Anything making you queasy or sick? Not really.

Gender: GIRL

Labor Signs: Yeah, so Monday (Memorial day) as we were out visiting, I started having contractions every seven minutes lasting approximately 50 seconds. I went home, laid on my left side, drank water, and slept. This made them go away.

Thursday evening during dinner, the same thing started happening, so I went home and did the routine and was fine. Friday afternoon, I was out shopping with my mom, and in the grocery store they started coming on strong. This day they were kind of uncomfortable. So I went home, laid down, drank my water, and thought they’d go away.

Wrong. They got stronger, so I started timing them. I had them coming at about every six to eight minutes lasting about 40 seconds, so I decided it was time to call the Dr. The nurse told me to go to labor and delivery at the hospital to be monitored. I was a little nervous because I didn’t want to be like those women you see in movies who rush off to the hospital, only to be made to feel stupid because there was really nothing going on. My mom reassured me not to feel bad and that I was making the right decision which I appreciated.

But I went and they hooked me up and started measuring my contractions which were indeed coming every six to eight minutes. I was kind of proud that for one I recognized I was having contractions and two that I had them timed out perfectly. So after 45 minutes of just laying there drinking water, they decided to check my cervix for dilation. I had not had this done, so I expecting it to be like a regular vaginal exam. Wrong again. OUCH is all I’m going to say. Fortunately there was no change, so they ruled out pre-term labor. PRAISE JESUS.

Next they wanted to see if I was dehydrated, so into the little cup I peed. No signs of anything, dehydration or anything else (I probably drink close to a gallon a day of water), so that was ruled out as causing my contractions. So they told me I had the option of taking some drug that I am unfamiliar with or trying benadryl. I opted for the benadryl which I am all too familiar with from taking it in a sleep aid for so long. They said that it would relax the smooth muscles of my uterus and cause the contractions to subside. I took 25mg of the stuff and laid down at home. It definitely helped deter them from being so regular, but I still had a few over the course of two hours.

All in all, I just have to rest as much as possible over these next couple of weeks and call the Dr. if I start having the same type of contractions.

Belly Button in or out? In, but it’s s t r e t c h i n g.

Rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody: Mostly happy, a little worried, but feeling blessed to have made it to week 34!

Reading: Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way which contains a lot of naked women FYI, but the material is very helpful, and we’re about to start Christ Centered Childbirth.
